Description: This conference will bring together experts from various research areas to address the public health aspects of unconventional natural gas drilling. The idea for this conference grew out of a suggestion by the NIEHS to investigate the methodological aspects of creating the pertinent epidemiological studies. Our overall objective is to create a research consortium that will aid in the collective design and implementation of both short term and long term health studies. The conference will address the complex methodological issues that make this such a challenging area of research, helping to coordinate studies that address industrial, geologic, toxicological, epidemiological, and health care factors.
