Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The energy landscape is rapidly shifting, and the need for unbiased, actionable information has never been greater. But data alone is not enough. At PSE Healthy Energy, we conduct scientific research that empowers decision-makers, communities, and the greater public to choose and fight for a healthier, more sustainable energy future. Please consider making a donation to support our work advancing science-based energy policy.
Building on our commitment to actionable science, we launched the Methane + Health Initiative in 2024 to uncover the links between methane emissions, air pollution, and public health. Through this work, we aim to identify methane mitigation solutions that protect both human health and the climate. To date, we’ve built the world’s largest database on natural gas composition and are developing new interactive tools that will map the health and safety risks posed by methane super emitters. By harnessing the immense potential of methane-sensing satellites and other emerging technologies, this initiative ensures that clear, actionable data is available to anyone, anywhere.
At the same time, we are working to advance a more transparent and equitable clean energy transition through state-of-the-art models that, for the first time, incorporate critical components like air quality and health, affordable bills for low-income households, and energy systems resilient to outages. This work has the potential to catalyze the energy transition by ensuring that clean energy delivers real, tangible benefits to communities across the United States, while avoiding outcomes that could jeopardize its viability and public support. We are working closely with key stakeholders, including regulators at California state agencies, to shape how these impacts are incorporated into California’s energy transition.
Looking ahead to 2025, our mission remains clear: to transform rigorous scientific research into insights that empower decision makers and the public to take meaningful action. While science and the pursuit of truth are intrinsically valuable, what truly sets PSE apart—and what will allow us to scale our impact in the coming years—is our commitment to driving forward science-based solutions for our climate, health, and environment.
Thank you all for your support and collaboration over the past year. You help make our work possible. Join us in shaping a healthier, more sustainable energy future by making a donation today.
Onward,
