Gas Leaks in Baltimore are Costing Taxpayers Millions“Between 2003 and 2018, the number of reported gas leak emergencies nearly quadrupled,” said PSE healthy energy senior scientist Drew Michanowicz. “These leaks represent a growing and largely hidden cost to society that should be considered when designing future energy systems.”

Gas Risk is Worst in These 20 US Cities"Uncombusted gas leaks are a preventable situation that can draw significant time and resources away from other emergencies," Sebastian Rowland, a scientist at Physicians, Scientists, and Engineers for Healthy Energy who was involved in the research, said in a statement. "Nationwide, fire departments are spending nearly half a billion dollars to prevent gas leaks from becoming even more serious emergencies."

New Report Outlines Possibilities of Permanent California Solar + Storage “Resilience Hubs”“Demand for resilience hubs remains high,” said senior scientist Patrick Murphy, noting that California’s Strategic Growth Council awarded 11 grants for resilience hubs in February 2024, “but more than 100 communities requested funding. “In their analysis, Murphy and his colleagues with the group PSE Healthy Energy (PSE) identified nearly 20,000 potential sites for solar+battery powered resilience hubs.
