Ali Snell is a Community Impact Scientist at PSE Healthy Energy. Prior to joining, Ali consulted organizations on leveraging research and data visualizations to improve education, equity, accessibility, diversity, and inclusion in the sciences.
Snell is completing a PhD in Geology from Texas A&M University, with a dual-focus on structural geology and geoscience education. Her research includes a 5 year quantitative and qualitative study of the impacts of social climate on student retention, diversity, learning and inclusion; and conducted a quantitative study of the impacts of COVID-19 on graduate and undergraduate students. She developed code and analyzed deformation behaviors of key minerals in the lithospheric mantle to better understand tectonic processes.
Prior to her PhD, Snell developed data management systems as a federal consultant; performed geopolitical and socioeconomic analysis as a GIS analyst; developed after-school science enrichment and literacy programs; and earned a BS in Geology from The College of William and Mary.
