Angélica Ruiz joined PSE in 2021 with expertise in community-based participatory research approaches, environmental justice, and applied data science. As a Community Impact Researcher, her current work focuses on data-driven and community-inspired research that examines the impacts of energy systems and climate change on public health, equity, and the environment.
Prior to joining PSE, Ruiz worked as a research scientist for the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), where she led research on investigating the health impacts of water quality in the Imperial Valley. Before OEHHA, she was an executive fellow at the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) where she worked on the San Ysidro Air Quality and Border Traffic Study to characterize the air pollution health risks faced by the San Ysidro community–in addition to environmental justice policy across the state of California.
